About Melissa

Hi, I’m Melissa, and I'm so glad you are here...

I love stories, I tend to learn best when a story is involved. I certainly have my share of personal stories to tell...stories of loss, disappointment, joy and restoration. But instead, I want to tell stories on a much grander scale. I want to share the significant stories of Scripture with—accounts from eyewitnesses of Jesus, from those who preceded him, and from those who followed after. These stories matter because they point to the most significant story of all, the gospel of Jesus Christ.

My first story series is about women with Jesus, in the early church, and beyond the first few decades of the church. By experiencing these women's stories, we may see them in a new and meaningful light—one that informs how we perceive and support women in the church today. My intention is not to tell you how and what to think or believe, it's to guide you in your own journey of discovery and perhaps even advocacy. At the heart of it all is a deep desire for us to experience Jesus in a fresh way together.

A little about me...

My husband and bonus kids call me Mel. We currently reside just south of Jacksonville, Florida, with our dachshund Addi. My background includes over a decade of vocational ministry in non-denominational churches in the southeast. I hold a Master of Ministry and Theology degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and am in my final semester of the Doctor of Ministry program at Portland Seminary.

Significant Stories is my doctoral project, birthed from a deeply held conviction that the local church needs both men and women to creatively preach, teach and lead congregations through the stories of Scripture.
